Cultures Meet

I am excited to inform you all that we are hosting an exchange student. Her name is Jiabao Peng and she is from China. She lives in Ghangzhou, so she speaks Cantonese. We picked her up on the 15th of August and can already tell she is very intelligent. We are working on our speaking skills since there is a small language barrier. I am thoroughly impressed at her patient nature, and think she will be a great addition to the family. She met Ellie, our dog, today. She has never seen such a big dog and was very hesitant at first. They are quickly becoming good friends. She can write English very well, but speaking is tricky. She is 17 and has studied the English language for 10 years. We all love her caring and quiet spirit and are anxious to start this adventure!

Abstract

It's been a while since I've blogged. I hope you all can forgive me. I'm working on learning HTML Code to truly create my own blog and it's taking more time than expected! But when I returned to the blog I couldn't help but laugh. I'd remembered to post a photo without explaining what it was. Two weeks ago I took a trip to Washington. My grandparents made it possible and was such a blessing in my life since I LOVE Washington!!! Sure, we didn't go to Forks, (it's completely mobbed there) but it's still one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. In fact, I plan on living the rest of my life there once schooling is out of the way, perhaps even ending my schooling in Udub. With that being said, the photo was taken on the trip. It was my favorite stop a Museum of glass! Here are some more photos of it.

I've always been into blown glass so it was exciting to get so "up close and personal" with the craft. The first shot seen is an upclose shot of these giant glass shapes that from farther away look like giants sticks of rock candy. Yes! you heard me GIANT STICKS OF ROCK CANDY!!! Sure, they may not truly be rock candy but just the idea is epic. So if anyone has been really confused, I hope this helps.
